Wheelchair Securement And Restraint Systems
Wheelchair securement and restraint systems are designed to secure manual and power wheelchairs, occupied or unoccupied, into vans and buses. There are 2 basic styles: 4 point manual strap system that requires an attendant or caregiver to secure to the wheelchair, or an automatic system that is designed for the wheelchair occupant to independently secure their chair.
4 Point Manual Strap System
4 point manual strap system is a set of 4 web style belts that are secured to the floor of the vehicle via one of several styles of tracking that is permanently bolted to the floor of the vehicle. The end fittings of the straps are anchored into the track. The straps are then pulled and attached to the wheelchair. Belts are available in retractable and non-retractable and should always be used in conjunction with a seat and shoulder harness assembly. There are several styles of straps available to make the attachment to the wheelchair as universal and convenient for use on many different manual and power wheelchairs.
EZ Lock Docking System
For those that rely on a wheelchair as seating in their vehicle, the automatic tie down system is the absolute best solution for travel safety and security. A docking device system secures the wheelchair to the floor of the vehicle in a safe and efficient manor allowing the user to lock their chair in place without the assistance of others. This system is perfectly suited for both wheelchair seated passengers and drivers and accommodates many different wheelchairs. Requires modifications to the wheelchair and should always be used in conjunction with a seat belt and shoulder harness assembly on all occupied chairs.
